Hi there. Kim here, serving as your guide to The Open Book Company.

I'm a writing coach, editor, ghostwriter and a communications fiend. Oh, and I should mention that I'm NOT a New York Times bestselling author (though, I'm still a worthwhile human).

I help authors, aspiring writers and "but-I'm-not-really-a-writer" writers to find, hone and use their voice. I am here to help you to craft your story verbally (think: job interviews, speeches, presentations) as well as in written format (social, blogs, articles, books). I do this through a coaching practice rooted in empathy, authenticity and self-compassion.

I also love to write with (and for) executive coaches, inspirational speakers, organizational leaders and solopreneurs, helping to get their messages out into the world through books, articles, blogs, speeches, social media copy and more. Great writing starts with great listening and together we'll explore your goals and amplify your voice.

I have fifteen years of experience across the non-profit and corporate sectors under my belt spanning various disciplines including Global Diversity, Equity + Inclusion (DEI) Communications + Programming, Women's Leadership Development, LGBTQ+ Workplace Equity, Human Resources, Project Management, Organizational Culture, Recruitment, Social Issues and Childhood Education.

I would love to hear more about your writing, storytelling and communications goals.

Episode 17: Jennilynne Coley

From Energy Healing to Motherhood and everything in between, I am so excited to bring you this amazing episode with Jennilynne Coley!

'All of my life, I have been lit up about education in all sorts of arenas, but not in the traditional sense. The root word of education, "educo", actually means "to draw out". And that fits beautifully with my take on education....the belief that not only do we have all our own answers inside of us, our bodies also have the remarkable ability to heal from the inside out.

While I have always had a love for learning, pushing myself to do well in school, I did not always see myself as a healer. As a teen mom, I took a "safe" and conventional path at first, completing my degree in business and following a financial services career path...from management, consulting, cultivating & training sales teams and teaching continuing education classes to selling and servicing retirement plans, real estate, and investment and insurance clients. Yet, something was still missing.

Throughout the process of discovering what works for me, I found so many amazing tools and I totally fell in love with life again. I began doing more of what I love...speaking, writing, coaching & facilitating, dancing and experiencing many other things in life that bring me and my body so much joy! And now I empower my clients and community to do the same, and MORE!'

Episode 16: Bethany Meadows

This Mama has such a beautiful soul... I loved hearing all her stories about all her kids and how a life may seem "chaotic" to some people, but to the people in it, it's perfect.

I loved having this conversation, Bethany has such an amazing way of handling a full house and I can't wait for you to hear.

In her own words, 'Being a mom is my life's joy and talking about my kids is one of my favorite topics. I really am an open book. Because 4 of my children were adopted at ages 8, 9, 10 and 11 - they came with some challenges. I used a lot of my business skills to run a homeschooling household and a business at the same time. Usually people want to know what strategies I used to "do it all."'

Episode 14: Lisa Marini

Have you ever noticed that when in a stressful situation, your body reacts and will carry that reaction long after the situation is gone and into your normal life?

Well, that's exactly what I'm talking about with my guest today, Lisa Marini, and we will be diving into why that happens, and how to handle it!

Lisa used to be a Superintendent for a Multifamily General Contractor – ya, quite stressful – and as a woman in that industry it caused her not only stress, it created a ton of physical and mental issues. She had memory loss, chronic migraines, hormonal issues and hair loss. But worse than the physical issues was the emotional misery. She felt she lost her purpose and zest for life.

Then the most amazing life altering thing happened … she was attending a conference with a neuroscientist and learned that it was her brain that was in the way. It was stopping her, and making me behave in certain ways to protect me.

So she wants to share with you all that she has learned so you too can live a life you love!!
